Baby Watch 2014

My wife went to the lady doctor on Wednesday for a routine check-up. Since she is "full term" now the doctor wanted to see how the baby was doing. We were interested to hear what the doc had to say since the due date is less than a month away (July 9th). The baby hadn't "dropped" yet, leaving us on the edge of our seats to begin Baby Watch 2014.

When Jenna returned home from the doc visit, she had a lot of news to share. First off, the baby has dropped. Neither of us are sure when that might have happened; however, it's definitely happened. Babies are just full of sneaky surprises. When a baby has dropped, they'll likely show up in two to four weeks from the time of the repositioning inside the mother. It's basically like the pre-landing check that you have to do in an air plane. The seats have to be locked in the upright position. The tray table needs to be affixed to the seat in front of you. Please turn off all electronic devices... blah, blah, blah. It looks like our new roommate is prepared for touchdown.

We also received a further bit of surprising information. Jenna is one centimeter dilated. This was much more alarming to me than it was to Jenna. Initially, I was freaking out. I thought that meant that the baby was coming today. Evidently, mothers can/will be dilated for weeks prior to giving birth. Who the hell knew? Women are strange creatures. Anyway, the landing gear is down. All of this means....

We have Officially entered Baby Watch 2014.

After a short bit of celebration, Jenna and I promptly went out and bought more baby clothes. It seemed like the thing to do.
